I just need to share this with all Jerry Lewis Fans. I went to a "Get Motivated Seminar" yesterday in Ft. Lauderdale (29 Mar 2006) and Jerry was the "HEADLINER" as it should be. I sat directly in front of the stage where the people go up some steps to the stage. I got to the arena at 6:00 am and made sure I would be in a area where I would shake Jerry's hand. Well the time came for Jerry (around 4:45 pm) and a video clip of many celebs like George Bush Sr. General Colin Powell and others wishing Jerry a Happy 80th Birthday, that was very touching. As this video was going on a man passed me with a Directors Chair with the name in script that said JERRY LEWIS, I just almost went into tears. He walked down with a thunderous applause
from about 10,000 people including me. There I was face to face with my Comic Hero since I was 5 yrs old and I'm 41. He looked good to me. He is still heavy set and he did walk on stage with a slow pace and holding on to the Directors Chair and the podium where his notes were. He showed some great video clips of Dean, Frank and Jerry, another video clip which was hillarious and I've never seen it but it's Jerry Lewis singing with a bunch of old men and he's in the choir and silly things happen to him and the old man next to him and Jerry even shoots a bird at the old man and even calls the old man a "FAG". It was hillarious. During the video showing Jerry did sit in his Directors Chair. I tool lots of pictures of my Comic Legend. I did have a note pad and pen for Jerry to give me his autograph but he did "NOT" give me his autograph but he did shake my hand. That's all I needed. He looked like he did not shave in a few days and he did say it's because he's going to be in a movie and he'll be playing Joan Rivers. I think he was joking. He did have lots and lots of jokes but the one that stuck to me is the joke that "This 65 yr old woman goes to her doctor for a regular check up and she gets home and tells her husband that her doctor said her breasts are the breasts of a 18 yr old girl. The husband asked the wife what the doctor said about her 65 yr old ass. The wife responds and tells her husband -- He did'nt ask for you". Well folks, I hope I gave you updated info on Jerry. He is still my comic here. I love him to death. I will never forget this day.
Even I never did that.
Wow! I can't imagine actually shaking his hand.
